Nutritional supplements for skin and coat problems
The skin and fur of animals needs a lot of care and attention.
Regular brushing is one step in the direction of a healthy coat. Long-haired breeds should be brushed twice a week, while animals that are prone to hair loss or thick undercoats, should be brushed once a week. Even short-haired breeds will benefit from regular grooming to remove loose hair.
A healthy coat is soft and relatively smooth even on short or wired hair breeds. The coat should be shiny, but not greasy and should not have a strong odor. An animal with an unhealthy coat has dry and brittle hair with lots of loose hair in the coat. The coat itself may also be greasy or have a dusty appearance. Other signs of an unhealthy coat include bald spots and an oily smell.
An additional point to obtain a healthy coat is by giving additional supplements. The better the nutrition of your animals, the more it is seen to the coat. Amongst essential fatty acids are of outmost importance for the fur of animals. Problems with the coat can be the result of a deficiency in essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals.
