Do you want your dog to walk nicely on a dog leash? Prepare yourself well! First, you provide a good collar and a handy leash. We'll give you some handy remarks which are best avoided while walking on the leash:

Don't call your dog while walking

By continuing to lure your dog with your voice (for example by calling his name or make funny noises) when he does not pay attention to you, you encourage the wrong behavior. It means that you keep an eye more on your dog than vice versa, which is obviously not the intention! Once your dog runs along with you, turn your body a quarter turn so that the dog comes next to you. Give him a reward at that moment. Use your voice to reward the dog the moment your dog has attention for you. You can also reward, in a further stage, some cozy talk to your dog. If the dog breaks contact with you by keeping himself busy with other things, you stop talking. If the pup pays attention back for you, your chat further.

Your dog may not determine the route

Some dogs will drag their owner along over an entire area while sniffing to find the best place to relieve themselves. Do not allow this. If you have a dog that is looking too long for the best spot, you better just stand still. You decide for your dog where he can relieve. You will find that this makes the walk easier.

Don't let the dog pull on its leash

Stand consistently still when the dog starts pulling on the leash. Also do this when he sees another dog, if someone calls your dog or if he wants to hunt. Teach the dog that there are no exceptions. If you can ensure that your dog doesn't pull on the leash, it shows your leadership during the walk.

Visible reward while training

Take a special snack bag with you along walking. Take the reward from your pocket while walking. Do this only if the dog walks beside you and has attention for you. Continue to reward consistently.
